Abbotsbury
Dorset
Abbotsbury is one of my favourite villages and has everything you need for a relaxing day out. There are places to eat and a small village shop. The walk I've shared in our Guidl tour takes you out into the countryside to take in the nearby Iron Age hill fort, but if you dont fancy the longer walk, there's plenty to see in the the village itself. The whole village is dominated by the presence of the old monastery which once stood here and although very little remains standing, it echoes around the place like a ghost. I've mapped the walk against old OS maps in the gallery below, so you can see the heritage you're passing through as you go. Of course we are also at one end of the famous Chesil Beach, which is another walk in its own right! Do take care if you choose to walk the beach, it's longer than you think!
